A Letter from Randy Samsel, Founder of eSearch, Inc.:

After many years in leadership roles for international recruiting firms, I started eSearch in October 1998 to help clients acquire exceptional talent. The initial focus of eSearch was contingent recruitment of accounting and finance professionals in Northeast Ohio, however w e grew rapidly and added temporary/interim services the following year.

Even in the economic recession in the early 2000s, our business thrived. In 2002, I joined the board of the Cleveland Society of HR Managers (SHRM) and we began placing HR professionals in addition to accounting and finance professionals. As the economy recovered, so did the demand for accounting, finance and HR professionals. Our business continued to grow in the mid 2000s, bolstered by the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements for all publicly held companies (also known as the accountants’ full employment act).

The recession caused the demand for hiring to drop dramatically and many of our competitors did not survive the downturn, which meant we were able to gain market share. Our continued success was reinforced by the excellent client relationships we had developed over the years as a result of our focus on exceptional service and quality.

Unlike previous economic recoveries, however, this one had a notable impact on hiring practices. The severity of the downturn made most hiring manager extremely cautious. Their trepidation manifested in position descriptions with unrealistic background requirements, unnecessarily lengthy interview processes and a willingness to wait — often six months or longer — for the “perfect” candidate to come along. Many of these cautionary practices are still common today, even though demand for talent is now through the roof.

In 2015, I started eSearch Talent Solutions (F.K.A. Future State Talent Solutions) to help clients navigate the fundamental shift in hiring from an abundance of talent to a scarcity of talent. We help clients develop candidate- and employee-centric practices that Identify, Attract, Acquire, Develop and Retain exceptional talent. This initiative is designed to give our clients a strategic advantage through the caliber of their people.

Our search practice has also changed with the times. Understanding that our clients are looking for highly committed, strategic relationships , we now focus on helping them attract leadership talent through Retained Search and our Leaders on Demand™ interim executive service.

From here we will continue to add services and products that further this objective. We appreciate and value our clients and are committed to providing exceptional service to them for years to come.
